Before founding Atelier Chroma, I spent many years working as a scenic artist. While based in Montréal, I worked in an established scenic studio producing painted backdrops and custom artwork for film sets, where the work required convincing historical finishes, aging techniques, and faithful reproductions able to withstand close camera scrutiny.
The pieces shown here reflect that same discipline — hand-painted works created to replicate the materials, surfaces, and visual language of historic paintings. They include period portraiture, reproductions after Velázquez and Sargent, and character works designed to appear fully authentic within an architectural setting. Each was executed using traditional methods, aged finishes, and historically appropriate framing to convey the presence of genuine antique artwork.
